"I'm so used to playing defense," said Webb, who transferred to Timber Creek from Paul VI in the spring. "This is new to me. I like to play nasty and attack. That's what you do on the defensive line. I have to work a little more on my technique as an offensive lineman."
A top heavyweight, Webb is likely to make a major impact on the Timber Creek wrestling team, which could be one of the top squads in the state this winter.
Timber Creek football coach Rob Hinson says Webb's wrestling background is a big factor in his success on the football field.
"He's got that lower center of gravity, and he's got great leverage and balance," Hinson said.
Webb is looking forward to opening holes as an offensive lineman for the first time. He thinks Timber Creek has the talent and determination to challenge for the West Jersey Football League Royal Division title as well as the South Jersey Group 3 crown.
"All my teammates are hungry," Webb said.
While offense is a new challenge, Webb knows his best position is defensive tackle. He's especially thrilled with playing on a defense that includes linebacker Quanzell Lambert, a senior who has scholarship offers from programs such as Alabama and Oklahoma.
"That's a tandem made in heaven," Webb said.
