S. Jersey Boys’ Soccer Players to Watch

September 06, 2011

F Mike Ryan, Cherokee, Sr. Ryan netted 24 goals and seven assists in 2010. The Temple recruit leads the reigning South Jersey Group 4 champions.

F Greg Biggiani, Shawnee, Sr. Biggiani, who will play for Lafayette next season, will work to get the Renegades over the hump in South Jersey Group 4.

F Dominick Palmieri, St. Augustine, Sr. Palmieri scored the winner in the South Jersey Non-Public A title game and added the insurance goal in the state final. This year, he will look to play an even more vital role in the St. Augustine offense.

Story continues below.

M Ramadan Bayyan, Cherry Hill West, Sr. A defensive midfielder, Bayyan is one of the more versatile players in South Jersey and a threat on both ends of the field.

M Angelo Dambalas Cherokee, Sr. Dambalas, a two-way midfielder, netted six goals and six assists in 2010. He will be expected to contribute on both ends of the field again this year, particularly on defense.

M Mike Mazzochi, Sacred Heart, Sr. One of the strongest players in the Cape-Atlantic League, Mazzochi should lead Sacred Heart to yet another strong season.

M Ben Keane, Bishop Eustace, Sr. Keane leads a strong senior class at Bishop Eustace. The versatile senior doubles as a defender.

D Mickey Smyth, St. Augustine, Jr. Smyth was part of the defense that shut out a vaunted Pingry attack in the Non-Public A state title game. With the graduation of Sam Vessels, look for Smyth to play an even more integral role in the St. Augustine defense.

D Austin McCleery, Haddon Heights, Sr. McCleery was one of only three juniors to make last year's Inquirer all-South Jersey team. McCleery, a second-team selection last year, is a stopper who leads one of the area's toughest defenses.

D Eric Bihlear, Seneca, Sr. Defense has never been a problem for Seneca, and Bihlear should lead another strong group in 2011.

G Mike Hartmann, Shawnee, Sr. One of the most dominant goalkeepers in South Jersey, Hartmann will look to erase the memory of losing to Cherokee on penalty kicks in the 2010 sectional Group 4 final.
