A SEPTA bus driver was shot late Tuesday in South Philadelphia, but was able to drive herself to the hospital, police said.
The shooting occurred shortly after 11 p.m. in the area of Vare Avenue off Snyder Avenue, when the driver was stopped for a layover and a man approached and fired at least twice through the door, police said. There was a frantic scramble to try to find the bus, and then SEPTA told police the driver was driving herself to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Police finally found the bus at the hospital. The driver's condition was unknown Tuesday night. - Robert Moran
