Southeastern Pa. Girls' Soccer Players to Watch

Carly Black, Hatboro-Horsham, Sr., forward. Black is in only her second year of playing high school soccer, but she makes the Hatters a contender in the Suburban One League Continental Division.

Gina DiTaranto, Strath Haven, Sr., midfielder. DiTarento was instrumental last season as the Panthers won the Central League championship.

Kelsey Celline, Archbishop Wood, Sr., forward. With 35 goals, she was one of the area's top scorers last season. She will be a key if the Vikings are to become the first team to win three straight Catholic League titles.

Story continues below.

Megan Schaefer, Neshaminy, So., midfielder. That Schafer was named the player of the year in the Suburban One League National Division as a freshman tells you a lot about her.

Salina Williford, Conestoga, Jr., midfielder. Williford forms part of a formidble midfield for the Pioneers that also includes juniors Marley Jennings and Maddie Swarr.

Jackie Pierson, Archbishop Wood, Sr., midfielder. Coach Bill Cappo has handed Pierson the task of filling the shoes of standout Christine Verrelle. Pierson appears up to it.

Moira Petrie, Lower Merion, Jr., midfielder. One coach in the Central League describes Petrie as a "game changer." She has proven she can do it all for the Aces.

Stevie Parker, Pennridge, Sr., midfielder. Parker was instrumental in leading the Rams to a 20-4 record and the PIAA Class AAA quarterfinals last season. She's headed to South Carolina.

Lindsay Horst, Central Bucks West, Sr., midfielder. This is another top player out of a very competitive program in the SOL Continental Division. She was so effective last season that she was named the division's MVP.

Kristina O'Sullivan, Upper Merion, Jr., back. Whenever the Vikings needed a top defensive effort against the opposition's high scorer last season, they turned to O'Sullivan.

Alyssa Messina, Lansdale Catholic, So., goalie. Messina split duties in goal last season when the Crusaders were 14-4-4. Coach Tom O'Donnell has decided she's ready to fly on her own.
