Thurs. S.J. boys’ and girls’ roundup: Gateway blanks Woodbury

Coming off a sophomore season in which he scored 19 times, Anthony Colofranson kicked off a new campaign on Thursday in dominant fashion - setting a personal single-game high with four goals - as host Gateway wiped out Woodbury, 7-0, in Colonial Conference boys' soccer.

Ryan Gavin netted a pair of goals and Ryan Wells came through with a goal and three assists for the Gators.

In other Colonial Conference action:

Tyler Jones capped his two-goal effort by knocking in the game-winner in overtime, lifting host Sterling over West Deptford, 4-3.

Zach Curl picked up two goals and one assist and Mike McCutcheon scored twice - including a penalty kick - to highlight Haddon Township's 5-0 home rout of Lindenwold. Matt Butrica added a goal and an assist for the Hawks, who outshot the visitors, 28-2.

Olympic. Cherokee goalie Barry Fitzgerald turned aside six shots and the Chiefs saw five players figure in the scoring in a 2-0 win at Cherry Hill West. Bryan Ingham and Jason Spieker each had a goal, while Mike Ryan, Angelo Dambalas and Ross Staudt were credited with assists.

Gary Lindgren led the way with a hat trick as host Cherry Hill East crushed Camden Catholic, 9-2.

Second-half goals by Tyler Flockton and Eric Jordan rallied host Washington Township past Seneca, 2-1.

Vatsal Gandhi and Carlos Valle scored to back the shutout goaltending of Corey Brodkin, sending Eastern to a 2-0 triumph at Shawnee.

Burlington County. Jason Bolan and Nick Stone split time in the nets for Delran, and Mark Tattory deposited a penalty kick as the visiting Bears blanked Northern Burlington, 3-0.

Tri-County. A pair of goals by Brent Greco helped host Schalick to pull away in the second half in polishing off Pitman, 5-1. Panthers keeper Adam Horner made 20 saves to keep the Cougars from running away early.

Cape-Atlantic. Grant Stoltore scored two goals and set up one in leading host Egg Harbor Township past Oakcrest, 4-0.

Nonleague. Faruk Ozdemir's hat trick led the Burlington City attack, but the visiting Blue Devils still needed Harun Bozkurt's penalty kick in the first overtime to outlast Doane Academy, 6-5. Joe DeMarco, who provided all of the scoring for the hosts, tied the game with his fifth goal with 3:40 left in regulation.

Maruba Harris had two goals to pace a balanced attack for host Vineland, which scored four times in the first 15 minutes of the second half to put away Bridgeton, 6-1.
