Sat. S.J. football roundup: Salem shuts down Wildwood

Dylan Rush lofted touchdown passes to three receivers and Salem's defense registered a shutout as the Rams raced past visiting Wildwood, 40-0, on Saturday in a West Jersey League Classic Division football game.

After a scoreless first period, Salem scored three times in the second quarter as Devin Walker sprinted 46 yards for the first points of the game, and Rush hit Deiontai Alston and Artaj Northrup with scoring passes.

In the third quarter, Lindsey Butts grabbed a 25-yard scoring toss from the 6-foot-2, 175-pound senior.

West Windsor South 47, Rancocas Valley 27 - WWPS won the shootout over visiting Rancocas, which was knotted with the hosts, 20-20, at halftime of the Capitol Division contest.

For Rancocas, Isiah Gibson rushed for 112 yards and scored on a 15-yard run.

The Red Devils' special team contributed to the scoring as John Wilson scored on a 47-yard punt return and Jerry Lowe scored Rancocas' final points by returning a blocked punt 20 yards for a score.

Princeton 20, Northern Burlington 14 - Tosin Adeyemo's 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the bright spot for Northern in the Colonial Division loss to visiting Princeton.

Adeyemo scored in the third period and Northern blanked the Tigers in the second half but could not manage another score.

Colin Fitzgerald gave the Greyhounds a 1-yard TD plunge in the second period.

 

Cape-Atlantic League

Frank Ziegler accounted for all three Lower Cape May touchdowns as the visiting Tigers spoiled the debut of Cedar Creek's football program, 20-13.

Ziegler, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior, carried the ball 16 times for 154 yards.

Cedar Creek's Damon Mitchell ran the ball 16 times and gained 123 yards.
