Tues. Pa. boys’ roundup: Pohl, Judge outlast Carroll

Father Judge and visiting Archbishop Carroll played 93 scoreless minutes before Judge's Kevin Pohl broke through for a goal, giving the Crusaders boys' soccer team a 1-0 Catholic League win on Tuesday.

With seven minutes left in the second extra period, Justin Hiltwine took a corner kick that Pohl headed past Carroll goalie Michael Gallagher in the net.

Judge goalie Dylan Trush made five saves.

Also in the Catholic League, Unbeaten Archbishop Ryan (4-0) handled host Monsignor Bonner, 4-1, behind two goals in a 5-minute span of the second half from senior co-captain Kevin Nelms.

La Salle also improved to 4-0 by blanking visiting Lansdale Catholic, 4-0. Leonardo Romero and Jordan Santora shared the shutout, and Frank Russomano, Dillon Pierce, Matt Lucas and Khristian Hall scored goals.

St. Joseph's Prep's 3-0 win over visiting Bishop McDevitt featured goals by Tolu Ibikunie, Kevin Ferry and Anthony DellaPia.

Archbishop Wood's first win was a 2-0 triumph at Conwell-Egan in which Colin Davis scored off a corner kick and David Bateman added a goal.

Roman Catholic's second straight shutout, anchored by goalie Dylan Rutledge's four saves, was a 5-0 win at Cardinal O'Hara with goals from five players.

Ches-Mont. Bishop Shanahan got past visiting Sun Valley, 3-1, as Matt Fioravanti had two goals, and Dan Diffendall's 30-yard free kick deflected off the goal post and was headed in by Brad Perz.

Suburban One. Sean Jenkins of Central Bucks East stopped the ball with his chest and found the upper right corner of the net from 14 yards out in overtime as East defeated host Pennridge, 2-1.

Two second-half penalty-kick goals by Michael Banerjee was the difference for Plymouth Whitemarsh in a 2-0 victory at Upper Dublin.

Pennsbury's Dillon Smith scored on a header and Matt Montgomery knocked in the game-winner early in the second half of a 2-1 win over visiting Abington.

Central. Kenny Lassiter scored five minutes into the game and Lower Merion goalie Connor Yu made three saves for a 1-0 thriller at Radnor.

Harriton's Kevin Lawson scored from Zico Gaeffke's assist with 2:50 to play, dealing host Springfield (Delaware County) a 1-0 setback.

Thomas Shiiba dominated Strath Haven's 4-0 win over visiting Garnet Valley by scoring three goals. David Rufini and Dan Ziring shared the shutout.

Pioneer Athletic. Perkiomen Valley nudged host Methacton, 1-0, as Michael Chen scored midway through the first half, and goalie Taylor Zeitz made six saves.
