One thing is missing from the resume: a Class AA District 1 title.
And after the Firebirds' heartbreaking loss, a 1-0 overtime defeat against Upper Moreland, in last year's district final, Lazorko has one final season to do it.
"He's the quarterback of our team," Holy Ghost coach Ken Lawson said. ". . . With Timmy, he rarely makes the bad play. His vision on the field is excellent, and he always knows where the ball needs to go."
Holy Ghost opened the season with a 3-2 win over Council Rock South. Postponements have pushed their schedule, and through Monday, the Firebirds sat at 1-0. By week's end, they'll be fully immersed, with two league games on tap and a test against La Salle on Friday.
"All the individual accomplishments are nice. My family loves them, and everybody talks about them," Lazorko said. "But I'm more worried about the team. . . . Especially here, making it to the district finals two out of the last three years and not winning them, I'm a lot more concentrated on our team accomplishments."
Avoid the slump. You can hear it in Paul Duddy's voice. When the North Penn coach talks about the season's outlook, he has that nervous chuckle and sounds cautionary. He just doesn't want to jinx it.
"I don't want to put my foot in my mouth," he said.
The Knights, off to a 4-0 start through Monday, have been here before, as recently as last season. Begin the season strong, then derail as it wears on.
"We started well last year and then we reached about the middle of the season and definitely had some disappointing results," Duddy said. "That's the nature of our league. I think Suburban One Continental, every game's a dog fight."
