S. Jersey Boys: Duckworth lifts Burlington in overtime

Kyle Duckworth put home a rebound two minutes into the second overtime period, giving host Burlington City a 2-1 triumph over Moorestown Friends on Monday in a nonleague boys' soccer thriller.

Zach Treusch went the distance in goal for the Blue Devils, stopping six shots and allowing just a first-half goal by Tim Latimer. City's Faruk Ozdemir also scored in the opening half.

Olympic. Cherokee goalie Barry Fitzgerald came through with 13 saves to help the Chiefs pull away from Cherry Hill East, 4-1. Mike Ryan had two goals and one assist and Angelo Dambalas scored twice in the win.

Bobby Briggs and Ryan Zoltowski scored for host Lenape, which also benefited from an own goal to nip Washington Township, 3-2.

James Barnett recorded one save while playing half the match in goal and he also scored for Triton, which had seven players contribute on offense in a 7-0 rout of visiting Pennsauken.

Tri-County. Christian Klumpp pumped in four goals and Dean Davidson contributed a goal and two assists to highlight Clayton's 6-2 home win over Gloucester.

In a match that was scoreless at halftime, host Williamstown used goals by Eric Hermann and Ryan Mellen to edge out Highland, 2-1.

Second-half goals by Austin Moore and Drew Silver enabled host Pennsville to pull out a 2-0 win over Wildwood.

Kingsway received scoring from three players and solid goaltending from Kimmy Amorebella to defeat visiting Cumberland, 3-1.

Zach Kind, Aiden Morgey and Chris Rowson scored to back the shutout goaltending of Adam Horner, paving the way for Pitman's 3-0 victory over visiting Salem.

Cape-Atlantic. Steven Tobolski headed in Christian Bencie's free kick 15 minutes into the second half, putting Sacred Heart in front to stay in a 2-1 triumph at Lower Cape May.

Adam Chamberlain had the other goal for the Lions, who played a man down over the final 10 minutes of the first half and all of the second half of a very physical match that featured eight yellow cards and one red card.

Sophomores Jarred Casper, Noah Granigan and Scott Kurkowski each recorded their first varsity goals as host Middle Township pounded Pleasantville, 7-1.

 

Football

Mike Thomas rushed for a pair of touchdowns and Brian Verbitski threw a TD pass and scored on a keeper, sparking Burlington Township's 36-12 win over visiting Delran in a West Jersey League Patriot Division mismatch.

Brandon Roche, who had an interception, scored on a five-yard run to extend the Falcons' first-half lead to 36-0.
