Wed. S.J. girls’ roundup: Delsea breaks through

The Delsea girls' soccer program captured its first division win in three seasons on Wednesday, as Tori Miller banged home a feed from Reagan Pender 3 minutes, 30 seconds into the second half to lead the host Crusaders over Highland, 1-0, in a Tri-County Conference Royal Division game.

Brianna Pender recorded the shutout for Delsea.

In other Tri-County Conference matches:

Brieann Gorski scored off an assist by Shelby Thornton in overtime, making host Wildwood a 2-1 winner over Gloucester.

Chelsea Abhau and Brielyn Hackett produced two goals and three assists to help host Pennsville clip Clayton, 3-2.

Host Deptford received goals from Lauren Alcott, Jordan Johnson and Amber Scott in grinding out a 3-0 win over Penns Grove.

Olympic. Kristen Morawski took advantage of a misplay deep in the Eastern end to score the game-winner in overtime, lifting second-ranked Paul VI over the fourth-ranked Vikings, 2-1. Kristen McShane stopped 10 shots in going the distance in net for the Eagles.

Elise Pratt knocked in a pass from Colleen Collins with 5 minutes to go in regulation to pull host Timber Creek even, and the fifth-ranked Chargers went on to play ninth-ranked Shawnee to a 1-1 draw through two overtimes. McKenna Burns was the lone Renegade able to put a shot past Timber Creek keeper Lanye Halliday (12 saves).

Claire Midili (four goals), Allegra Ondrejka (three goals) and Alison Galiano (two goals) took turns peppering the Camden Catholic net, as Washington Township rolled to a 9-0 road win.

Shelby Lyon broke through for a goal with 7 minutes to go in regulation, making host Seneca a 1-0 winner Cherokee.

Paige Bergman and Erica Schules had two goals apiece and Dana Schules chipped in a pair of assists, enabling host Triton to outlast Winslow Township, 6-4.

 

Field Hockey

Morgan Driver and Liz Schafer staked host Haddon Heights to an early lead, and Maresa Malcolm made five saves in backstopping the Garnets past Haddon Township, 2-0, in the Colonial Conference.

Cat Thomas scored twice, Megan Johnston contributed a pair of assists and netminder Maura Trotman kept Audubon at bay, as Haddonfield claimed a 3-0 home win.

Burlington County. Ariel Schuck deposited Vanessa Hilger's pass into the cage with 24 seconds left in the first half, putting Burlington City on course for a 1-0 win at Palmyra.
