They can be on their own 20 - and Woods can go 80 more for another touchdown.
In a game filled with big plays, Woods hit four home runs. It was like watching Mike Schmidt in Wrigley Field on a windy day.
Woods, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound junior running back, gained 314 yards and scored four touchdowns on just 14 carries as Triton beat Kingsway, 40-17, in a West Jersey Football League Royal Division game.
Brian Keller and Jimmy Burns added touchdowns - both from distance, naturally - as Triton ran its record to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the division.
"I think we can go all the way," Woods said of Triton as a team, although he could have been referring to himself on every carry.
With a remarkable burst and an extra gear when he gets into the secondary, Woods is a threat to go the distance on every carry. His four touchdowns Friday night averaged 65.8 yards.
"I want to go all the way every time I touch it," Woods said. "I want to keep going until I see that 'G' [for goal line]."
Woods was a speedy but inconsistent back as a freshman and sophomore. He was bothered a bit by injuries, and Triton's line struggled at times to open holes.
But Woods made a big jump between his sophomore and junior season, according to Triton coach Pete Goetz.
"Josh has done it in the weight room," Goetz said. "He's done it with sprints. He's done it with hard work.
"He's special. He's a D-I running back. We haven't had any like him around here."
The first half was a track meet, and Woods was the fastest guy on the field.
Woods carried four times for 148 yards – a 37-yard average – and two touchdowns as the teams took turns racing up and down the field.
The tone was set on the opening kickoff, when Burns went 58 yards to the Kingsway 33. On the first play from scrimmage, Keller took a shotgun snap and went around left end and raced into the end zone.
"Josh can make you look like a genius, but it's more than just him," Goetz said. "We have other weapons. This was a total team effort."
Triton specialized in big plays. The Mustangs hurt themselves with a lost fumble on a punt return and a couple of penalties, but they kept hitting balls over the fence.
Of the Mustangs' six touchdowns, Burns' 16-yard run was the shortest. The Mustangs struck from distance again and again.
"My line did a great job," Woods said. "I love those guys. They were opening the holes and letting me go."
