Fri. Pa. boys' roundup: Kensington rallies

Trailing by two goals at halftime, Kensington awoke in the second half and rattled off three goals to knock off host Science Leadership, 4-3, in a Public League boys' soccer game Friday afternoon.

Sophomore John Pino-Anderson netted a hat trick, including the game-winner as he converted a penalty kick with 11 minutes remaining. Freshman Corey Steigelman had two assists for the Tigers. Science Leadership had three scorers.

Palumbo blanked visiting Douglas, 5-0. Omar Asid scored twice for the Griffins.

Penn Charter Invitational. Moja Hale scored twice and led Salesianum to a 3-0 win over host Penn Charter on the first day of the Be Positive Invitational. Ben Krieger had seven saves for the Quakers. Salesianum is the defending Delaware state champion.

St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.) rolled to a 3-0 win over Wissahickon behind two goals by Division I recruit Christiano Francois. The Grey Bees are ranked No. 2 in the nation by ESPN.

On Saturday, Penn Charter will play St. Benedict's, while Salesianum faces Wissahickon. Both matchups were predetermined.

Catholic. Five players scored goals for Archbishop Ryan in a 5-1 win over host Lansdale Catholic. Kevin Nelms recorded a goal and two assists.

Nonleague. Kevin Lawson's three assists highlighted a balanced Harriton attack, as seven scorers contributed to a 7-0 win at Chichester.

Matt Muldoon scored a hat trick to lead Marple Newtown to a 5-1 victory over visiting Methacton. The senior has six goals in the last three games.

John Walker scored in the first half, and Plymouth Whitemarsh held on for a 1-0 win over visiting Friends' Central. Tyler Haney had 5 saves for his third shutout.

Dan Phelan and Kevin Zwolak combined for six saves as Mosignor Bonner shutout visiting Neumann-Goretti, 5-0.

Jim Gavaghan stopped nine shots, including a first-half penalty kick as Holy Ghost Prep downed host La Salle, 3-1. Tim French scored twice for the Firebirds.

After a scoreless first half, Christian Academy scored twice in the second to down King's Christian, 2-0. Brothers Matt and Andrew Crockett provided the scoring.

Mohammaed Konneh and Nabieu Sesay both scored doubles as Academy Park rolled past Girard College, 8-1. Brandon Ortiz recorded seven saves for the Knights.

Jason Cavanaugh finished a pass from Mike Cross with 20 minutes remaining in the second half as Garnet Valley edged Kennett, 1-0. Kevin Stripling made 12 saves for the Jaguars.
