"I've had two-goal games before, but it was great to get them in today's game. Upper Dublin is our big rival," Hibbs said with a big smile.
It was the first league loss for Upper Dublin, which has not beaten Wissahickon since 2007. The Cardinals are 6-2 overall.
"I just leave it to the girls to play their game," Trojans coach Lauren Luft said.
Luft, who took over for Lucy Gil, is enjoying - at least so far - her maiden season.
"There was a time at the beginning [of the game] that we were having a little trouble," Luft said. "I called a timeout, and we talked out our problems. We got our transition game going."
The Cardinals had taken a 1-0 lead at 17:57 of the first half on a goal by Kelly Cross. The Cardinals dominated much of the early play until Luft called the timeout.
"We did a lot of switching [positions] today," Luft said. "That's usually not my style."
Upper Dublin coach Heather Boyer said she hasn't quite figured out the hex that Wissahickon seems to have placed on her team. She's confident her team has the physical ability to play with the Trojans, the three-time defending conference champions.
"We seem to have a mental block," the coach said.
She did find positives in the loss. One, she pointed out, was that the Cardinals scored first in the game. According to Boyer, that has not always been the case for the team.
Seniors Stephanie Speese and Emily Hitchings agreed with their coach that the team's woes with Wissahickon seem to be mental.
"We get over our heads when we play them," the Bucknell-bound Hitchings said.
"I was ready to win today," Speese added. "I know that we play them at Wissahickon the next time, so we have to make sure we get together on what we need to do to win."
The two teams will meet again on Oct. 14.
The Cardinals will play an always challenging Christopher Dock next Monday in a nonleague game. The Trojans on Friday will play a league game against Cheltenham, which through its first five games had not scored a goal.
