Kramer had been critically injured Wednesday night when she apparently lost control of her car, and it struck a tree in East Coventry Township.
"The team was devastated, but they decided to play in homage to Kelsey," Jennelle said.
The Wildcats went on to beat Methacton, 5-1, to remain unbeaten at 7-0 overall, 5-0 in the Pioneer Athletic Conference.
The field hockey team wore black wrist bands with purple ribbons against Methacton in memory of Kramer .
"They really came together," Jennelle said. "Molly Rinahan, one of our backs and a best friend of Kelsey's, got the job done and then some."
Four one-goal losses. Central Bucks East got hot toward the end of last year's regular season and went on to reach the first round of the PIAA Class AAA playoffs before being eliminated by perennial District 3 power Penn Manor.
The Patriots graduated five defensive players from that team. On offense this season they have had a little trouble scoring goals. West is 3-5-1 overall and 3-4 in the Suburban One League Continental Conference, and four of those losses were by one goal. Still, they have outscored their opponents, 14-12, thanks in no small part to goalie Emily Gauthier.
Last Wednesday, coach Marie Meehan was happy to see the Patriots score five goals in a win over Quakertown.
"Marissa Glatt scored both goals as we took a 2-0 halftime lead," Meehan said. "I told them I wanted to get three more goals in the second half. When we scored three more, they turned to me, smiled and said, 'We got them.' "
Unfortunately, the Patriots dropped their next game to Souderton by a goal, 1-0.
"Offensively, we had some nice passing in the first half but not in the second" said Gauthier, a senior who has been a workhorse in goal.
In the Patriots' 0-0 overtime tie with Council Rock North, Gauthier stopped all 35 shots she faced.
"That was really a good game for me," said Gauthier, who wants to be a physician. "I like challenges."
