Chesco GOP chief quits to join LCB

Posted: September 28, 2011

The longtime head of Chester County's Republican Party has resigned to take a seat on the state Liquor Control Board. Joseph A. "Skip" Brion was tapped by the Corbett administration in July.

Brion made his resignation as county chair official last week. A lawyer who has served on the Delaware Regional Finance Authority since 1988, Brion was reelected chairman of the Chester County GOP in June 2010.

Brion said a vote on his county successor is scheduled for Oct. 8. So far, two candidates have expressed interest: Val DiGiorgio, a West Whiteland Township resident serving as county controller, and John Emmons, a Republican committeeman from New London Township. - Kathleen Brady Shea
