Ryan White, the 9-year-old Phillies fan who was critically hurt by a hit-and-run driver after a game in San Francisco, will help with the ceremonial first pitch for the team's opening playoff game on Saturday.

Ryan and his brother, Kevin, 12, will take the ball to the pitcher's mound at Citizens Bank Park for former Phillies infielder Dave Cash to throw out the first pitch, Roseanne White said Friday. She and her husband also will be at the game.

On Aug. 4, Ryan was hit by a car near AT&T Park after watching the Phils shut out the San Francisco Giants. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, a laceration to his liver, and broken bones.

During Ryan's 37 days in the hospital, Phillies centerfielder Shane Victorino, manager Charlie Manuel and general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. visited. Now Ryan is home and being taught by a tutor from his school district, his mother said, and is Skyping with his fourth-grade class.
