Colin Thompson, Archbishop Wood's standout tight end, received his honorary game jersey for the 2012 Under Armour All-America football game Tuesday in a ceremony at the Warminster school.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound senior was one of 90 players selected to play in the game. The fifth annual all-star event is scheduled for Jan. 5 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. It will be televised on ESPN.

In ESPNU's ranking of the top 150 players in the country, Thompson, ticketed for the University of Florida, is No. 84 (his Wood jersey number). The Doylestown resident is the top-ranked tight end.

"I'm looking forward to meeting the other players and hanging out with them during the week," Thompson said. "These are guys I'm either going be playing with or playing against when I'm at Florida. It should be a lot of fun."

This season, Thompson, who doubles as a defensive lineman, has helped the Vikings to a 4-1 record. They have won four straight since a 20-17 loss to Pittsburgh Central Catholic.

Noah Spence, a 6-3, 245-pound defensive end from Harrisburg's Bishop McDevitt, was the other Pennsylvania player selected to compete in the game. He is ranked third overall by ESPNU.

Notable Under Armour alumni include NFL wide receivers Julio Jones (Atlanta Falcons) and A.J. Green (Cincinnati Bengals).
