S. Jersey Girls: Triton, Bishop Eustace score upsets

Triton and Bishop Eustace scored upsets of Top 10 girls' soccer teams on Monday, posting victories in Olympic Conference National Division action.

Triton escaped with a 2-1 win over visiting Paul VI, ranked No. 2 in South Jersey by The Inquirer.

Paige Berman scored both goals for the Mustangs, including the game-winner 7 minutes, 45 seconds into the second half on a direct kick for her seventh goal of the season.

Eustace (3-4), playing at home, dealt No. 6 Timber Creek (6-2-1) a 3-1 setback with goals by Taylor Baranowsky, Erin Logue and Nicolette Wilkins.

Also in the Olympic, third-ranked Eastern registered a 2-0 win over visiting Shawnee, the No. 5 squad in the area. Freshman goalie Imani Taylor made seven saves, while Madison Tiernan scored in the seventh minute, and Jamee Simone scored midway through the second half.

Cherokee beat host Cherry Hill East, 1-0, when Rachel Jackson scored with 2:21 left in the first half and Chiefs goalie Melissa Gall made five saves.

Burlington County. Ashley Stoner's cross set up Ashley Swiderski for a goal in the second overtime, making Florence a 1-0 winner over visiting Westampton Tech.

Second-half goals by Becky Forcellini and Casey Gleba gave Cinnaminson a 2-1 thriller at Rancocas Valley. Gleba scored off a corner kick with a minute to go in regulation.

Kayla Bancroft's goal from Kassandra Stillwell's assist boosted New Egypt past visiting Burlington Township, 1-0.

Colonial. Haddon Township goalie Chrissy Ambrozy made five saves, and Patrice Maro scored a goal and assisted on Cassie McSorley's goal for a 2-0 win at Sterling.

Audubon goalie Megan Schaeffer made 13 saves as the Green Wave held host Haddon Heights to a 1-1 draw. Audubon's Jenna Rizzo and the Garnets' Ally Glickman traded goals.

Kellie Riley's 10th shutout in 11 games for No. 4 Haddonfield was a 4-0 win over visiting Woodbury.

Cape-Atlantic. Millville's Nikki Read scored in the first half and Egg Harbor Township's Hannah Richman scored early in the second half for a 1-1 stalemate at EHT.

Nonleague. The second career hat trick for freshman Vanessa Kara sent Moorestown Friends past visiting Maple Shade, 4-2.

 

Field Hockey

Michelle Gonzales gave Cherokee two goals but the Chiefs needed Lauren Thomas' score 3 minutes into overtime to escape with a 4-3 victory against visiting Cherry Hill East in the Olympic Conference. Daylin Brook scored twice for East.
