Pa. Boys: Washington, Northeast tie

Trailing by a goal with 15 minutes left in regulation, Washington's Wilo Mimbar converted a penalty kick as he beat the goalie to the right side and the Eagles held on to tie visiting Northeast, 1-1, in a Public League soccer match.

Mohamed Conde was taken down in the box by the Vikings goalie to set up the penalty kick. Junior Jabony Ramos recorded eight saves.

In other Public League action, Jeff Schwartz and Dan Wirt scored in the second half to lift host Science Leadership over Palumbo, 2-1. Wirtz scored the game-winner with 4 minutes left after Schwartz headed in the tying goal off a corner kick.

Central League. Mark Shiiba and Thomas Shiiba scored first half goals and Ben Sofer provided a solid defensive effort to lead Strath Haven to a 2-0 win at Upper Darby. Tim Johnson picked up the shutout with seven saves.

Kevin Bendesky scored once in each half as Harriton knocked off Ridley, 2-0. The freshman has scored each of the Green Raiders' five goals over the last two games.

Catholic. Roman Catholic scored twice in each half, with a pair from Mark Casasanto, as they rolled past Bishop McDevitt, 4-0, at Philadelphia Soccer Club.

Ches-Mont. Jeff Ballard scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift West Chester East to a 2-1 win at Bishop Shanahan.

Golf

Zach Herr of Council Rock North shot an even par 72 and captured the Suburban One League title at Indian Valley Country Club. Forty golfers from Suburban One qualified for the District One Tournament on Oct. 12 at Turtle Creek Golf Club.

Wissahickon's Jalen Griffin won the American Conference title with a 76, while Steward Rickenbach of Central Bucks East shot a 77 to capture the Continental Conference title.
