Downingtown East's Harris remains sidelined

Drew Harris, a prolific and rugged rusher for Downingtown East, could be lost for the season because of a left-meniscus injury.

"It's nip and tuck right now," East coach Mike Matta said Tuesday. "There's damage or a bruise to his meniscus."

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Harris, who last week committed to play at Virginia Tech, suffered the injury in a 20-14 loss to Ches-Mont League National Conference rival Coatesville on Sept. 23.

Harris, a 4,977-yard career rusher, sat out last week's 28-0 win over Avon Grove.

Story continues below.

"We win games with the team, not the individual," Matta said.

East (4-1 overall, 1-1 Ches-Mont) will host St. Mark's, of Wilmington, Friday night.

Bracetti folds. Because of a shortage of players, Mariana Bracetti, of the Public League's Class AA division, has disbanded for the season.

Before the 2011 campaign, FitzSimons, another Public League AA squad, dropped football due to low numbers.
