Phillies fans clamor for Game 5 tickets

AS TICKET prices continue to escalate, demand remains at a premium for tonight's decisive Phillies-Cardinals matchup in Game 5 of the NLDS.

With box offices sold out for weeks, the only way to purchase tickets is through secondary markets like StubHub, MLB's official online marketplace.

According to StubHub spokesperson Joellen Ferrer, fans flocked to the website yesterday to purchase tickets for tonight's pivotal game at Citizens Bank Park.

Story continues below.

Ferrer said the event page on the company's website for Game 5 had been viewed over 35,000 times, a clear indication that fans are not only searching for tickets but buying them - despite across-the-board price increases.

Ferrer said only the Yankees Game 5 page was viewed as much. She said the pair were the most viewed pages on StubHub yesterday.

Ticket prices for standing room only for the Phillies-Cardinals game start in the $120 range, roughly $25 higher than the price for "get-in" tickets for the first two games of the series.

As of last night, a little over 3,200 tickets remained on the site with the lowest price at $121 for a seat in the Terrace Level (Section 432) and as much as $2,500 for a seat in the outfield (Section 142).

"With the views we have had today for both Yankees and Phillies Game 5 tickets I expect [today's] top-viewed page on our site will be from fans looking to grab Phillies tickets last minute," said Ferrer. "But this [frenzy] is incredible, considering there are over 30,000 events listed on our site."
