Tues. Pa. girls’ roundup: McLarnon sparks Penncrest victory

Penncrest's Alisanne McLarnon was moved from fullback to midfield on Tuesday, and the change of scenery paid off in her first two goals of the girls' soccer season as the Lions beat visiting Upper Darby, 4-2, in a Central League game.

Penncrest, which had scored 12 goals in its first 12 games this fall, has picked up eight in the last two games, helped by McLarnon and single goals from Sammy Jumper and Nicole Mancarella.

Also in the Central League, Ridley junior Karleigh Yori made Senior Night victorious by scoring with 2:49 left in the second OT to beat visiting Springfield (Delco), 1-0.

Conestoga beat host Haverford High, 3-1, as Salina Williford scored twice and goalie Ana Walker made six saves.

Ches-Mont. The American Division title belongs to West Chester Rustin for the first time following a 3-0 win over visiting Unionville in which Janna Brown scored two goals and goalie Ashley Rundell made six saves.

Catholic Academies. Alyssa Lamb sent a drop pass to Kimmy Spaventa, who scored with 14 minutes, 30 seconds remaining to give Villa Maria a 2-1 victory at Merion Mercy.

Pioneer Athletic. Methacton goalie Alyssa Ardman chalked up the 26th shutout of her career and fourth this season, 1-0, over visiting Perkiomen Valley, while Hailey Sherman scored the goal.

Nonleague. Jess Minderjahn got loose for a pair of goals from Priscilla Wiggins, steering George School past host Baldwin, 3-0.

Goals in the last 10 minutes by Claire Boylan and Ava Redmond gave Solebury School a 2-0 win against visiting Girard College.

 

Field Hockey

Oliver Everts scored off a scramble in front of the goal with 16 minutes left as Conestoga (13-1-1, 9-0 league) clipped host Haverford High (10-4, 8-1), 1-0, in the showdown for first place in the Central League. Pioneers goalie Chloe Johnson made five saves.

Lindsay Concannon scored in the third minute of the second half as Garnet Valley edged host Marple Newtown, 1-0. Jaguars center-mid Eleanor Kirby played a solid game in front of goalie Emily Murphy.

Catholic Academies. Sacred Heart goalie Taylor Brady turned aside six shots to register a 2-0 shutout at Nazareth Academy. Jordana Cech and Laura Haab scored the goals.

Inter-Ac. Penn Charter freshman Tara Murphy scored 25 seconds into overtime, ending a 1-0 win at Agnes Irwin.

Ches-Mont. Melanie Lowry slipped in an overtime goal, ending a scoreless standoff and making Octorara a 1-0 winner at Great Valley.
