S. Jersey Boys: Williamstown tops Clearview, 1-0, to win TriCo Royal boys' soccer crown

Williamstown's ability to win close games has paid off in a boys' soccer championship as the Braves beat host Clearview by 1-0 for the second time this season and captured the Tri-County Conference Royal Division crown on Monday.

Brian Sheridan scored the goal with eight minutes left in the first half, converting a long throw-in from Cody Rutter into a goal from 6 yards out.

Andrew McNellis sparkled in the Braves' goal, making eight saves for his sixth shutout. Williamstown (10-1) has won eight games this fall by a one-goal margin.

Clearview, which has suffered two of its three losses this season to Williamstown, got two saves from goalie Steve Keane.

Olympic. Timber Creek's Jeffrey Morgan registered his 13th and 14th goals of the season, and Chargers goalies Andrew Garcia and Trevor Tierno combined for six saves in a 3-1 win over visiting Cherry Hill East.

Eric Choe accounted for the Cherry Hill East goal in the second half.

Burlington County. Second-half goals by Chris Delapenha and Burak Kilic boosted Burlington Township past visiting Rancocas Valley, 2-0. Falcons goalie Ryan Liberty came up with 10 saves.

Cape-Atlantic. Sacred Heart's 33d straight National Conference win was a 3-1 triumph over visiting Holy Spirit in which Adam Chamberlain scored two goals, and Mike Mazzochi had a goal and two assists.

Nonleague. Sophomore midfielder Kevin Nelan scored his first two goals of the season - one in each half of Haddon Heights' 2-0 victory over visiting Highland. Matt Taylor and Kyler Berner assisted the goals in support of Garnets goalie Jon Weaver (six saves).

Kingsway's David Malaquias drilled a 30-yard direct kick into the upper corner of the net in the 25th minute, and Tom Schmiegel scored three minutes later to give Kingsway enough offense for a 2-1 win over visiting Hammonton.

Dragons goalie Jimmy Amorebella made four saves.
