Asked whether they were set to hire a defensive consultant, as reported by ESPN, an Eagles spokesman said Tuesday that the team was not hiring one.
The 1-4 Eagles, however, did not deny considering the idea of hiring another coach to assist first-year defensive coordinator Juan Castillo.
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported Monday that Eagles coach Andy Reid and the team's front office had discussed the premise of hiring a veteran coach during the bye week to help with the struggling defense.
