Derr's late TD puts Upper Dublin over Wissahickon

Andrew Derr broke through late in the game and helped lift Upper Dublin to a 17-10 home win over Wissahickon in a clash of two of the top Suburban One American teams.

Derr scored with 1 minute, 22 seconds left in the fourth quarter on a 17-yard rush to put the Cardinals (7-2 overall, 5-1 league) on top. The senior finished with more than 200 yards rushing.

Greg McDonough converted a 23-yard field goal to put Wissahickon (7-2 overall, 4-1 league) ahead in the third quarter.

Central Bucks West 44, Quakertown 39 - West (4-5, 2-4) got a 22-yard TD run from Sherrod Higginbotham and a 33-yard field goal by Nick Danilo in the fourth quarter to pull out a Continental Conference thriller over visiting Quakertown (4-5, 1-4).

For West, John Fitz completed 7 of 15 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown, and Higginbotham added 151 rushing yards on 18 carries.

Quakertown's attack featured Erik Jones' 131 passing yards for two TDs as the Panthers took a 38-16 lead in the second half.

Cheltenham 28, Upper Moreland 22 - Mark Thompson rushed for 205 yards and scored the game-winning TD with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter to lead host Cheltenham (4-5, 1-4) over Upper Moreland (0-9, 0-5).

Central League

Joe Viviano had his way with the Haverford High defense, and host Conestoga was able to hold on for a 22-20 win. Viviano threw for 317 yards on 20 of 31 passing to lead the Pioneers (6-3, 5-3). Davonte Carter hauled in 10 catches for 165 yards.

The Fords (5-4, 4-3) missed a two-point conversion following a Mike Clancy touchdown in the fourth quarter that would have tied the game.

Ridley 24, Upper Darby 7 -Matt Davis threw for two scores and the host Green Raiders (7-2, 6-2) eased past Upper Darby (2-7, 2-5). Matt Smoluk and Mike Crowley both hauled in touchdowns for Ridley.

Strath Haven 28, Springfield (Delco) 7 - Visiting Strath Haven (6-3, 5-3) scored twice in the first quarter and didn't look back as it knocked off the Cougars (7-2, 6-2). Keith DeCindis rushed for three touchdowns, all from inside the 5 yard line. Mike Dougherty rushed for a 2-yard touchdown in the third quarter for Springfield's only score.

Marple Newtown 27, Radnor 13 - Four players scored touchdowns as Marple Newtown (7-2, 6-2) squashed visiting Radnor (0-9, 0-7). Cimirrow Moat rushed for a 55-yard touchdown in the third quarter for the Tigers.

Catholic League

Raul Quinones ran for five touchdowns and dominated Father Judge's 42-14 Class AAAA victory over visiting Archbishop Ryan (3-6, 0-4).

Quinones, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior who has scored 13 TDs this fall, started the scoring with a 49-yard TD sprint and scored three times in the second quarter to build a 28-7 halftime advantage.

Quinones finished with 222 yards on the ground for the Crusaders (6-3, 2-2).

Public League Playoffs

Bok (8-0) opened the league's Class AA playoffs with a 32-0 quarterfinal shutout of Prep Charter (4-5) at Southern.

Shaquil Sammons ran for three touchdowns, including an 85-yarder that opened the scoring in the first quarter. Sammons finished with 16 carries for 208 yards.

Bok's fourth shutout of the season featured Terrell Mills' 11 tackles; Robert Kralle's 10 tackles; and interceptions by Omar Bashir, Taj Cannady-Jewett, and Olutoby Lediju.

Germantown 32, Lincoln 27 - Myles Brooker's 15-yard TD reception from Cedric Wright in the fourth quarter gave host Germantown (5-4) the Class AAAA quarterfinal win over Lincoln (6-3).

Inter-Ac League

After a scoreless first half, Malvern Prep scored once in each of the last two quarters to knock off host Episcopal Academy (2-6, 0-3), 14-0. Shawn Wilson led the Friars (7-1, 3-0) with 151 yards on 19 carries, including 60 yard touchdown in the third.

Del-Val League

George Walker rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns to guide Glen Mills past visiting Chichester, 66-7. With the win, the Bulls (5-4, 4-0) clinched a share of the league title. Brandon Hann scored in the second quarter for Chichester (2-7, 2-2).

Interboro 17, Academy Park 14 - Mike Christaldi nailed a 28-yard field goal with 48 seconds left to lift Interboro over host Academy Park. Tyler McLaughlin rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown lead Interboro (6-3, 3-1). The Knights (7-2, 3-1) took a late lead on a goal-line dive by Caleeh Jeffrey in the fourth before Interboro rallied back.

Bicentennial League

In a minute span, Ned Hull turned a one-point deficit into a comfortable lead to guide Jenkintown over host New Hope-Solebury, 22-7. Hull recovered a fumble in the end zone and on New Hope's ensuing drive returned an interception to the house.

Jenkintown (5-3, 4-2) trailed by seven points at halftime. Julian Kaminoff provided the scoring for New Hope-Solebury (3-5, 2-4).

Springfield (Montco) 47, Delco Christian 21 - Clay Ewell scored three times as he scorched Delco Christian (7-1, 6-1) for 166 rushing yards to lift visiting Springield to an easy win. The Spartans (9-0, 6-0) clinched the Bicentennial and a home playoff game.

Nonleague

Micah Cordon ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns, steering Calvary Christian (7-2) past visiting Perkiomen School, 40-14.

Cordon carried the ball 23 times, and quarterback Doug Smith threw for one touchdown and ran for another. John Watson made seven tackles against the Indians (4-3).

Dobbins 52, Olney 12 - Dobbins (7-2) scored on consecutive plays to start the second half, turning a 14-6 halftime lead into a lopsided win over the visiting Trojans (1-7).

Daquan Brown returned the second-half kickoff 70 yards for a score, and the ensuing kickoff was fumbled and recovered in the end zone by Mike Jones. Brown also had touchdown runs of 55 and 40 yards.

Schedule Changes

The time of Germantown Academy's game on Saturday at Chestnut Hill has been changed from 2:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., and Boyertown's game at Pope John Paul II has been changed from 1 p.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Plymouth Whitemarsh's game at Upper Merion was moved from Friday to Saturday night at 7.
