No. 4 seed Wissahickon, the defending district champion, was eliminated in its second playoff game by fifth seed Owen J. Roberts, 3-2, in overtime.
That leaves the Wildcats (21-2) as the highest seed left in the tournament. They will play North Penn (15-5) in the one semifinal at Central Bucks West. The other semifinal will pit seventh seed Mount St. Joseph (16-1), runner-up to Wissahickon last season, against 11th seed Unionville (16-2-1).
The North Penn-Owen J. Roberts game is expected to be one of contrasting styles, the Maidens more long ball hitting vs. the Wildcats' shorter passing game. Heather Morris leads the Pioneer Athletic Conference champion Wildcats' attack with 41 goals. She and her teammates have outscored the opposition by 124-26. Their losses were to state power Emmaus, 7-1, and Parkland, 2-1.
Carly Pickford, Juliamae Marger, and Bobby Dougherty are among the key players for North Penn.
Senior twins Brooke and Allie Sabia are among the team leaders for Mount St. Joseph, which tied with Class AA power Villa Maria Academy for the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies championship this season. Unionville is led by juniors Annabeth Donovan and Brielle Hartzell and senior goalie Sam Carlino.
Other semifinals. Top seed and defending champ Villa Maria (16-2) faces No. 4 Springfield (Montco) (13-2) Tuesday in one of the semifinals of the District 1 Class AA tourney at West Chester East at 3 p.m.
