Farrell scores five to lift Timber Creek

The Timber Creek girls' soccer team found a replacement for its injured leading scorer, Olivia McEachern, by moving Kelly Farrell to the front line.

Farrell, a senior center-midfielder, was used as a forward in the Chargers' South Jersey Group 3 first-round playoff game on Monday and responded with five goals against visiting Winslow Township, igniting a 6-0 victory.

With McEachern, a 22-goal scorer this season, sidelined, Timber Creek had Elise Pratt register her 18th goal, and Farrell, who entered the game with eight goals, dominated the attack.

Also in Group 3, Seneca clipped visiting Kingsway, 1-0, as Shelby Lyon scored in the second half and Taylor Donia made four saves.

Visiting Burlington Township, seeded No. 12, also took a 1-0 win, surprising fifth-seeded Hammonton on Erica Enarusai's second-half goal from Tina Dapontes, and Dana Feuerhammer's 12 saves in goal.

Jenna McAvoy scored in the seventh minute, and Moorestown won the defensive battle against visiting Delsea, 1-0.

Nisol Biersbach and Gabriella McKeown managed second-half goals as Lower Cape May upended visiting Pinelands, 2-0.

South Jersey Group 4. Shawnee, seeded No. 11, escaped with a 2-1 upset at sixth-seeded Egg Harbor Township, rallying with second-half goals by Erin Smith and Kayla Bertolino.

Madison Tiernan tied an Eastern school record with four assists in a game, steering the Vikings past visiting Mainland, 6-0. Christina Padovani scored twice and goalie Imani Taylor had five saves.

Lenape turned one goal each by Emmy Duffey, Courtney Kovac and Katie Rigby into a 3-0 win over visiting Vineland.

Nicki Read set up Mallori Higbee for the game-winning goal with 2 minutes, 29 seconds left as Millville trimmed visiting Williamstown, 2-1.

Fran Babore headed in a rebound 2:20 into the second half for Ocean City's game-winning goal in a 3-1 triumph over visiting Lacey Township.

Toms River South bounced visiting Cherokee from the first round, 1-0, on Taylor Troutman's goal with 14 minutes left.

South Jersey Group 2. Senior forward Allie McLaughlin scored a goal in each half of Delran's 3-0 success against visiting Bridgeton. Nicole Johnson also scored a goal and the Bears' defense allowed no shots at goalie Katie Larson.
