Steve Vasturia, a junior basketball player for St. Joseph's Prep, made an oral commitment to Notre Dame on Tuesday during a news conference at the school.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound combination guard also took unofficial visits to Boston College, Georgetown, Northwestern, Temple, Villanova, and Virginia.

"They're all great schools, but I just felt that Notre Dame was the best fit for me," the 16-year-old said. "It's a great school academically, and it has a strong basketball tradition."

Last season, Vasturia, mostly playing point guard, averaged about 18 points per game while helping the Hawks to a 14-9 overall record and 8-5 mark in the Catholic League.

Vasturia was a first-team all-league selection.
