A $1,000 reward was posted today for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for what the Delaware County SPCA has called one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they have seen.

Curious George, a young pit bull mix, is recovering at the SPCA's shelter in Media, said spokeswoman Justina Calgiano. The extremely underweight pup gained four pounds since he arrived there on Monday, she said.

The reward was posted by Justice Rescue, a tristate animal rights group.

Story continues below.

A woman found the dog Monday in Lower Chichester where it was wandering near Routes 352 and 926, not far from the Delaware line.

Anyone with information is asked to call the shelter at 610-566-1370.
