Thompson leads Northeast to field hockey title
Northeast avenged a disappointing loss to Washington in last year's Public League field hockey title game by edging the Eagles, 1-0, on a late goal by Emile Thompson in the final at Germantown.
Thompson scored off a corner with an assist by Chloe Richardson with 54 seconds left in the second half. Kimberly Ortiz' 12th shutout in goal gave the Vikings (14-2-1) their first title since 2009.

Kelly twins lead Carroll to field hockey crown
Twins Katie and Megan Kelly teamed up for the game-winning goal early in the second half, leading Archbishop Carroll to a 3-1 win over rival Cardinal O'Hara in the Catholic League field hockey championship at Neumann College.
Katie assisted Megan's goal and also a goal by Kerry Hunt, and Natalie Schmidt set up Maddie Lesher's goal as Carroll claimed the league title for the second straight year and fifth time in the last 7 years. The Patriots will face Northeast for the District 12 title on Saturday.
