Cherokee's Megan Lacy continues to shine. As do the Bulldogs of Haddonfield.

In the South Jersey Group 4 Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Lacy won her second straight sectional title in the girls' division with a time of 17 minutes, 37 seconds over the 3.1-mile course at Delsea.

In Group 2, Haddonfield's Meghan Malloy and Shelby Cain finished first and second as the Bulldogs won their second championship in a row, and their seventh in the last nine seasons. The Haddonfield girls have the most South Jersey titles, with 19.

"It never gets old," said Haddonfield's Taylor Fenton, a senior who finished ninth to help the Bulldogs' cause. "It's a new team every year, and a new team to celebrate with."

Lacy, a senior who has narrowed her college choices to Harvard, Stanford, and Yale, ran a 17:36 in winning the 2010 event. Though she came won last year by getting out fast during the first mile, Lacy said she changed her approach this time on a nice but windy fall day for the runners.

"I started out a little more conservatively," said Lacy, who must take her case of asthma into consideration when competing. "Last year, I hammered it for the first mile and then I was just holding on. So I wanted to change strategy this time.

"I knew that the weather was a little different than I'm used to running in. I think the weather conditions were a little worse this year. The air was a lot thinner, and I didn't want to go out and get an asthma attack. I started out conservatively and then picked it up in the woods. "

Dina Iacone of Washington Township finished second to Lacy in 18:16. Iacone and Lacy were out in front together for the first mile and a half before the winner picked it up.

"I kind of surged a little just to see if I could go a little faster," Lacy said. "And I kind of started clicking it off after that. I felt pretty good. I was tired, but my legs felt good. Today, it was more with my breathing."

Bob Keissling Non-Public. Led by winner Holly Bischof (18:08), Bishop Eustace edged Paul VI, 45-48, for the girls' crown.
