In yet more proof criminal sentencing is far too harsh, Lindsay Lohan went to jail for her 30-day sentence - and was free after a few hours. Booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, she scrammed at 1:40 a.m. in a black Caddy Escalade SUV, and was kickin' back at her Venice Beach pad by 2 a.m. Why? Jail overcrowding. Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner, who sentenced LiLo on Wednesday, had postponed her slammer time so the thesp could finish being nude for Playboy and collect her $1 mil. LiLo'd been sentenced for shirking her community service ordered for drunken driving and theft charges. It's her fifth jail stint since being arrested twice for DUI in 2007. And she still has to do the rest of her community service at the county morgue or face 270 more jail days!! Who, cares, right? Back to the movies!: She's playing Kim Gotti opposite John Travolta as John Gotti in Gotti: Three Generations.

Hugh and she and baby makes 3
Speaking of the impunity of celebrity figures - and we were - Hugh Grant, 51, that tousled-haired, stuttering, rather brill Brit, is now a father for the first admitted time. The whole thing's a little . . . odd. In fact, the SideShow Ick Meter is stuck on 12 (and it only goes to, like, 8). Hugh's rep released a statement saying Grant was "delighted" to have sired a daughter on short-time squeeze Tinglan Hong, 32, a U.K. resident from China, who gave birth on Sept. 26. Yippee! cries Hugh! The rep called their early 2011 thing "fleeting" and the pregnancy "unplanned." Not present at the birth, delighted Hugh did visit baby (name not released) for about 45 mins Nov. 3, saying he wanted to "protect" it, although protection hasn't always been on his mind, evidently. It was only a brief hullo on a break from movie work in Germany. Hugh swears to stay involved. He's even set Hong and baby up in a $1.88 mil flat in Fulham about a mile from his own posh crib. (The flat was bought in July by Flora Hood, a Grant cousin, who won't say whether she bought it for this express purpose.) Hugh moves on! He's now dating German burlesque dancer Elisa Schmidt, 21. Busy Hugh! Meantime, rumors zing that the impossibly fascinating Elizabeth Hurley, still close to Hugh though his spectacular infidelities trashed their love as of 2000, has visited baby and is in the running for godmother. Everybody loves the baby!!!
