He stopped basketball after two seasons and decided to join the soccer team. And thus he began chipping away at the rust as a key reserve on the 2010 Colonial Conference Patriot Division champs.
"When I first started, I was really rusty, but we did a lot of work in the summer, and I felt good going into my junior year," Kasilowski said.
Imagine how he felt this season.
Kasilowski has been a key performer on yet another Patriot Division title team. But unlike last season, the Hawks have gotten past the South Jersey Group 1 semifinal.
After losing to Maple Shade, 6-1, in last year's semifinal, Haddon Township gets another crack at the Wildcats. The two will meet for the sectional final at 3 p.m. Friday at Haddon Township.
One of the chief reasons Haddon Township is playing is Kasilowski, who recorded a hat trick in Tuesday's 5-3 wild semifinal win over Glassboro.
"It should be awesome playing in the final," Kasilowski said. "It will be a nice revenge game."
The path hasn't been smooth for Kasilowski, but he is at the desired destination nevertheless. This past spring he had to miss the baseball season after shoulder surgery.
He said the shoulder was doing well, and there is obviously nothing wrong with his feet.
"He has worked hard in the middle of the field for us, and he has scored some clutch goals for us," said Haddon Township coach Jim Bonder, whose team is 20-3.
To illustrate that point, Kasilowski scored the lone goal in a 1-0 Coaches Tournament win over Haddon Heights. The Hawks would eventually reach the semifinals of the 16-team tournament.
Earlier in the season, Kasilowski had both goals in a 2-0 win over Audubon.
For the season, he has 11 goals and three assists.
Kasilowski, who is ranked No. 23 in his class academically, joined the soccer team for the simplest of reasons.
"All my friends were playing, and they had a winning program, and I thought it would be fun," he said.
