Wegmans Food Markets Inc. has signed a lease with the owner of Montgomery Mall to open a store at a Boscov's that went idle when that department store chain went through bankruptcy several years ago, mall officials said Tuesday.
Mall owner Simon Property Group Inc., said the new Wegmans in Montgomery County would replace a 125,000-square-foot Boscov's, but there was no word on when the store might open.
Wegmans spokeswoman Jo Natale said that the store would not be open in 2012 and that it was not yet clear whether the Rochester, N.Y.-based company would be able to fit the project into its schedule for 2013. Wegmans opens only about three new stores a year, she said.
