Here's a quote from the Germantown Academy graduate, who's in town filming "The Silver Linings Playbook," about his SMA honor: "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this. I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."

Blavat book report
Jerry Blavat caught up with old pals Frankie Valli and West Philly-raised fashion mogul Sidney Kimmel at Emilio Ballatos in New York on Monday night. This afternoon, the Geator discusses and signs copies of his book You Only Rock Once at the Vesper Club for members and their guests. Meanwhile, comedy icon Don Rickles got in touch with Blavat, his former valet, to congratulate him on release of the book. "Just received your book with the story of a kid who lived a boring life. I noticed I was mentioned on a few pages. I was so excited I put it in the drawer of my desk and forgot about it!" Rickles wrote his old pal.
Palindrome proposal
Akash Amin, a manager at KPMG Consulting, concocted an 11/11/11 proposal to his girlfriend, Bansi Mithani, a dentist. Amin, 30, asked Mithani, 27, to meet him at the Starbucks at the Phoenix, where the couple met Aug. 9, 2010. About 7 p.m. Friday she showed up and heard One Republic's "Good Life" being played by a guitarist whom Amin had hired. Amin proposed and Mithani said yes. Why was 11/11/11 important? Because, he said, they text each other at 11:11 a.m. or p.m. almost daily and make a wish.
