Hey, it just might happen. Ohio State's moribund passing attack could receive a major boost from the return of senior DeVier Posey, who will be making his season debut after sitting out a pair of five-game suspensions. Will Posey be rusty from inactivity? Or is he the same guy who hauled in a team-leading 53 passes in 2010, a number that becomes even more impressive when you consider he has the sort of big-play potential that causes opposing defensive coaches game-planning for him to break out into cold sweats?
"I think he's going to jump straight in," Ohio State All-Big Ten running back Dan "Boom" Herron, said of Posey.
Perhaps countering Posey is the return to relatively good health for Penn State's injury-plagued "secret weapon," Curtis Drake, the redshirt sophomore out of West Catholic High who showed flashes of his multipurpose skills in last week's 17-14 loss to Nebraska in Beaver Stadium. Used sparingly in the five previous games this season because of concerns about his twice-broken left tibia, Drake had a 31-yard pass reception in the first quarter and he hooked up with quarterback Matt McGloin on a 16-yard option pass off a reverse in the fourth period to set up Penn State's second touchdown.
"It's definitely nice to play and contribute again," Drake said. "I've been waiting for this chance all year. More like 2 years, actually.
"I'm glad the coaches have confidence that I am healthy and can do the things they know I can do. I want to be more of a factor in these last couple of games, and I think I can be."
