Police officer hit by car

A Philadelphia police officer was injured late Tuesday afternoon when a car struck her patrol bicycle, police said.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at 13th and Market Streets, police said. The female officer was initially reported to be unconscious, but regained consciousness and was reported to be alert.

She was transported by a medic unit to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she was reported in serious condition, police said.
