U.S. Marshals and police today arrested a man wanted on charges of shooting and possibly paralyzing a Northern Liberties resident during a robbery last week.

Christopher Easter, 20, had been sought in the Nov. 15 shooting of Kevin Neary, 29, outside the victim's apartment the 700 block of North Bodine Street.

U.S. Marshals and police found Easter about 9 a.m. today on the 1700 block of West Bristol Street in Nicetown.

When deputies arrived, however, Easter tried to escape through a second-floor window only to be surrounded by lawmen when he jumped to the ground, officials said.

Easter, who has a history of arrests for offenses including robbery and aggravated assault, now faces an attempt murder charge in the wounding of Neary.

Neary was shot in the neck during an apparent robbery as he headed home from a bar at the Piazza at Schmidts, police said.

His brother, Joe Neary, said Kevin Neary's spinal column is so severely damaged, he may never be able to move his limbs again.

On Monday, he underwent the first of many surgeries at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to remove loose bone fragments and to stabilize his neck, Joe Neary said.

A University of Pennsylvania graduate, Kevin Neary ran his own health care recruiting business and worked at Union Trust steak house in Center City.

U.S. Marshals had posted $2,500 reward for tips leading to Easter's arrest of Easter.
