La Salle's Matt Magarity led the Explorers to their fourth consecutive Catholic League Class AAAA football championship. The 6-1, 200-pound senior has had an outstanding high school career and is getting interest from a number of Ivy League and Division I-AA schools. We sat down with the elite quarterback.

Q: What are your thoughts on your senior season so far?

A: "I'm never really satisfied with myself, but I think that's a reason why I keep progressing. As a team, I'm really happy with what we've done. A lot of people questioned how good we would be, having lost all the players that we did. I think we came back and made a statement, especially with our line. A lot of kids never really played before. But we came together, and it made all the difference."

Story continues below.

Q: Who's your favorite professional athlete?

A: "Probably Tom Brady because I read a book about him and what he went through at Michigan. I kind of drew some parallels to my own life."

Q: What's your favorite pro sports team?

A: "The Eagles. I was raised on them and my dad is a huge fan."

Q: Do you have a favorite hobby?

A: "Writing music, I guess. I play the guitar."

Q: What's your favorite TV show?

A: "My favorite show is probably 'Alphas' on Syfy. I just like the plot, and I think the characters are really cool."

Q: What's your favorite food?

A: "Definitely mashed potatoes."

Q: What's your favorite song to warm up to?

A: "Probably 'Dark Horses' by Switchfoot."

Q: Who is your greatest role model?

A: "My brother. He's been there for me through everything. He's really always been the one to keep me on an even keel."

Q: What's the best part of being a high school football player?

A: "Being able to play with my friends. I've known all of the kids on my team since seventh or eighth grade. We have a great rapport and it's just really fun being out there on the field with them."
