A man held the driver up at gunpoint and demanded his money and his wallet, Small said. The driver handed over his wallet, which contained $100, and began fighting with the suspect.
During the struggle, the delivery driver wrestled the gun out of the suspect's grasp. The driver shot the man once in his neck and once in his buttocks. Police found two boxes of pizza, a bag of food and the suspect's blood on the scene. The suspect, who police identified Monday night only as a 26-year-old man, was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition as of 10 p.m.
The driver drove back to the restaurant he works for, threw the suspect's revolver into a recycling bin in front of the place and called police. He wasn't injured.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a man on his own block in Southwest Philadelphia. Rymeek Horton, 20, was shot twice in the head Sunday night in Kingsessing and pronounced dead at 8:17 p.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, police said.
Investigators have not disclosed if they have established a possible motive in the killing.

The woman who allegedly killed her boyfriend when she rammed him with a car after an argument early Sunday has been charged with murder, police announced yesterday.
Keisha Jones, 30, and Tyrone Taylor, 28, were fighting inside a 2002 Acura in South Philadelphia, police said, when Taylor stopped the car at 24th and Morris streets, got out and walked away. Cops said Jones then jumped in the driver's seat, drove onto the sidewalk and intentionally hit Taylor with the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones also faces charges including involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle.
The victim and Jones are from Kershaw Street near 53rd in West Philadelphia.
