Pennsville's dual offensive threats

Posted: November 30, 2011

In Pennsville's 55-35 regular-season win over Glassboro, Eagles quarterback Dylan Cummings completed 23-of-37 passes for 444 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. So there will be pressure on Glassboro to stop the passing game.

Yet Pennsville can also hurt teams on the ground, and the person who must be contained is Ryan Hawthorne, who scored five touchdowns in the game - three rushing and two by pass receptions.

"We have to stick to Hawthorne," said Glassboro running back-defensive end Corey Clement. "He is the key player in the game."

The problem is that Colton Newsome is another dangerous receiver. He and Hawthorne have combined for 26 touchdown receptions, so the trick will be not only stopping Hawthorne but the entire Pennsville passing game.
