"Even when I told them not to do it," Vangore allegedly told a man on Tuesday who he believed was a hit man. "They got their warnings, they got their everything else, but, you know, they said 'F---k you, I'm gonna do what I want to do.' "
Authorities said that Vangore had originally sought to have his wife killed when he contacted a man who he believed would carry it out last month.
On Wednesday, Vangore, 47, met that man and a Montgomery County detective also posing as a hit man named "Rick" at a buffet in Cheltenham. He had the cash on him and photographs of three men he wanted to "disappear," the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said. Vangore was cuffed after he left the restaurant and is being held on $25 million bail for solicitation to commit murder and kidnapping charges.
Yesterday, that 2006 white Mercedes R350, the same one that Vangore wanted chopped and sold, sat in the driveway of his home at the corner of Pepper Road and Washington Lane, in the Rydal section of Abington Township. No one answered the door at the home, but a German shepherd barked at the media gathered outside.
Joan Zinberg, a resident walking her dog in the stately, tree-lined neighborhood, said that the family didn't appear to be "good people."
"They're from India, right? Maybe they'll go back to India," Zinberg said after learning of the charges.
Vangore's wife, accompanied by the same little boy that she's pictured with on her Facebook page, was leaving her husband's Subway on Old York Road, in Jenkintown, when the Daily News showed up yesterday. A man behind the counter said that he wasn't aware of an arrest, saying only that the store would soon be under new ownership.
According to the D.A.'s office, all three men identified as targets had once worked for Vangore. The alleged lover lived in New Jersey and had been warned previously to stay away. Vangore, authorities said, wanted to confront the men before they were killed, to let them know they had disrespected him.
"And Boom. Boom. Rick's gonna kill 'em and that's it," Vangore allegedly said.
"And we out, you know what I mean? Plain and simple."
