DISTRICT ATTORNEY Seth Williams and his wife, Sonita, are divorcing, they said in a joint statement yesterday.

The couple said they had arrived at the decision "after long and careful consideration" and would "remain close friends and loving co-parents to our beautiful daughters," ages 24, 12 and 8.

"We entered our relationship with love, and it's with love and kindness we leave it. We ask respect for our family's privacy at this time," said the couple as we reported yesterday on PhillyGossip.com.

Sources tell us that Williams and his wife, a social worker, have been effectively separated for about a year, but lived together until recently.

Sir Charles sheds

The Round Mound of Rebound is shedding pounds with the help of Weight Watchers. Charles Barkley is the new ambassador of the Weight Watchers for Men campaign with print, TV and online ads beginning Christmas.

Barkley, who says he now weighs 305 pounds, told us he's lost 30 pounds in about 10 weeks on the Weight Watchers for Men online program. "One of the coolest things about it is that you get to do it online," Barkley, who's 6 feet 6, said. "Men get embarrassed. They don't want to go to a meeting."

The Sixers legend, who was about 250 pounds in his playing days and 350 pounds at his heaviest, is an analyst for the NBA on TNT. His Weight Watchers spots will be seen on TNT sports broadcasts, ESPN and male-oriented channels.

"It changes your eating habits," Barkley said of his Weight Watchers experience. "I don't like the term 'portion control' because you can pretty much eat all the fruits and vegetables you want. Are you gonna eat ice cream and cake all the time? No. It encourages better eating habits," he said by phone from Arizona, where he lives half the year and plays lots of golf.

Asked his thoughts on the end of the NBA lockout, Barkley said, "I'm glad for the real people who work for the teams and at the arenas. I didn't feel bad for the owners or players." As for the Sixers, Sir Charles says, "They can and should make the playoffs."
