Wed. Pa. girls’ roundup: Ryan holds on for win in Fla.

Megan Wolf came alive in the fourth quarter as Archbishop Ryan countered a late rally by Bishop Verot (Fla.) and held on to win, 38-33, in the opening round of the Queen of the Palms Basketball Classic at Fort Myers, Fla. on Wednesday afternoon.

The senior guard finished with seven rebounds and poured in eight of her game-high 19 in the fourth, along with converting all four of her foul shots. Kalene Coffey chipped in with nine points.

Cactus Jam. Kate Fitzpatrick controlled the low post and Upper Darby had little trouble with Chugiak (Alaska) as the Royals rolled, 57-40, in the Phoenix tournament. Fitzpatrick added 10 rebounds to go along with her game-high 20 points.

Wissahickon Tournament. Libby Wetzler scored 10 of her game-high 14 points in the first half as Souderton cruised to a 50-38 win over Gwynedd-Mercy in the tournament final. Bianca Picard knocked down seven of her nine free throws in the fourth to seal the win.

Behind Jackie McCarron's 10 first half points, Lansdale Catholic coasted past Wissahickon, 38-20, in the consolation game.

Robert Hopf Tournament. Senior forward Maddie Kimball recorded a career-high 18 points and earned tournament MVP honors as she guided host Jenkintown to a 36-27 championship win over Abington Friends.

Megan Penecale scored 14 points in the second half as Upper Moreland raced past Bishop McDevitt, 45-22, in the consolation game.

Boardwalk Classic. Destiny Russell hit a layup with 3.6 seconds left to seal Imhotep's 40-37 win over St. Basil in the Big Al Bracket. Deja Reynolds and India Lucas both finished with 11 points to lead the Panthers.

Kahleah Copper poured in 34 points but Prep Charter fell in overtime to Washington Township, 52-51, in the Tom Williams Bracket. Copper missed a go-ahead jumper with 9 seconds left.

Omawumi Rafiu grabbed 11 rebounds and finished with 16 points as Neumann-Goretti knocked off Holy Spirit, 49-33, in the Boardwalk Cup Bracket. Tanesha Sutton chipped in with eight rebounds.

Upper Dublin Tournament. Courtney Shaw and Mary Newell combined for 17 of Villa Joseph Marie's 30 second-half points as the Jems knocked off Nazareth High, 48-36.

Lower Moreland Rotary Tournament. Jen Fabian's 16 points and 14 rebounds helped pace Central Bucks West over Holy Cross, 54-40. The Bucks limited Rutgers-bound sisters Aliyah and Ashli Jeune to a combined 15 points.
