Tues. S.J. boys' roundup: Curry and Thompson carry Deptford

Daron Curry sank a pair of free throws to put Deptford ahead with eight seconds left in overtime, and Devon Thompson blocked a last-gasp shot to preserve the Crusaders' 62-61 win at Penns Grove Tuesday in Tri-County Conference boys' basketball.

Curry finished with six assists and a game-high 22 points, Brandon West added 18 points and six assists, and Nick Lawson (13 points) drained the tying three-pointer with seven seconds remaining in regulation.

Ge'Shawn Davis posted 19 points and 15 rebounds for Penns Grove.

In other Tri-County action:

Kerron Johnson and Tyree Brown scored 13 points each in fueling a fourth-quarter charge that lifted host Highland over Cumberland, 46-35. The Colts' Raquan Loatman led all scorers with 14 points.

David Harmon poured in 29 points and Glassboro took the lead with a 27-17 third-quarter spree en route to a 75-70 win at GCIT. Kevin Smith (20 points) and Kevin Krowicki (19) kept the Cheetahs close.

Olympic. Senior forwards Brian Keller (22 points, 12 rebounds) and Donte Vaughan (20 points) combined to score 16 in a 24-14 game-ending blitz, lifting host Triton over Cherry Hill West, 59-52. Marquis Goodman had 18 points for the Lions.

Ron Curry caught fire in the second half, scoring 20 of his 26 points, and Kris O'Connor dealt six assists in guiding host Paul VI to its sixth consecutive victory, 79-51, over Camden. Roosevelt Cubbage (15 points) and Matt Risse (14) supplied steady scoring for the Eagles, while Camden's Thomas Harper scored 16.

Omar Ross drilled five three-point baskets in matching teammate Joseph Taylor for game high-scoring honors at 19 points apiece, and Mikal Harris netted 14 to help Woodrow Wilson hold off host Seneca, 71-69. Paced by Carter Gimbel's 17 points, the Golden Eagles placed four scorers in double figures and mounted a 47-32 second-half comeback - that ended with a shot that rimmed out with 1.5 seconds left.

Host Cherokee shook off a slow start, getting 15 points apiece from Kyle Kahriger and Conor Kelly to surge past Washington Township, 54-38.

Burlington County. Justin Dornisch (22 points) and Lloyd Smith (21) sparked a second-half flurry that enabled host Holy Cross to pull away from Cinnaminson, 65-53. Dan Haddon's 17 points helped the Pirates hang tough early.

Host Bordentown nipped Delran, 58-56, behind the scoring of Michael Ansong (21 points), Patrick Donohue (14) and Mike Jacobs (13). The Bears' late rally came up short despite 20 points from Derrick Mitchell.
