A police officer and another motorist were injured Wednesday night when a cruiser rammed a civilian vehicle in West Philadelphia, police said.
The officer, who was not identified, was responding to a burglary call with lights and sirens activated about 7:30 p.m. when the cruiser went through an intersection on Baltimore Avenue near 59th Street and struck the other vehicle, police said.
The officer had to be extricated and was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with shoulder and neck pains. The other driver was taken to the same hospital with bumps and bruises, police said. - Staff report
