Town halls on Jerry Sandusky scandal set in Montco, elsewhere

Pennsylvania State University president Rodney Erickson will meet with alumni in town hall-style meetings in King of Prussia, Pittsburgh, and New York City next week to discuss the child-sex-abuse scandal involving former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

The first session is set for Wednesday night at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Pittsburgh.

Erickson will lead a second session next Thursday at the Radisson Hotel Valley Forge on First Avenue in King of Prussia. He will be in Manhattan on Jan. 13.

The sessions are being sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association. Erickson replaced Graham B. Spanier, who was forced out by school trustees in the wake of the scandal. He is attempting to repair the school's image with alumni, faculty, staff, and students.

Each town hall is scheduled to run from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and is open to alumni and friends. The meetings are free, but those wishing to attend must register online at an alumni association site. Walk-ins will be admitted if space is available.

Penn State officials said that anyone with questions about the event may send an e-mail to alumni-events@psu.edu or call the Alumni Association at 1-800-548-5466, Option 4.
