Fri. Pa. girls' roundup: Notre Dame wins at the line

After missing the front end of her two foul shots, Megan McGurk sank her second attempt with 1.2 seconds left as host Notre Dame slipped past Springside, 40-39, in an Inter-Ac basketball game on Friday afternoon.

McGurk finished with seven assists, four steals, five rebounds, and a team-high 16 points.

Michelle Boggs led the Lions with 25 points and her free throw tied the game with 7.6 seconds left.

Also in the Inter-Ac, Dee Thomas-Palmer's game-high 23 points helped propel Penn Charter past Agnes Irwin, 51-44. Faith DeVlieger knocked down six threes for Agnes Irwin.

Bicentennial. Jana Goodman grabbed 12 rebounds and Carly Johnson grabbed eight as Phil-Mont Christian rolled over visiting Calvary Christian, 38-21.

Catholic. After learning earlier in the afternoon that its school is slated to close, host Archbishop Prendergast fell to Lansdale Catholic, 47-36. Jackie McCarron's 22 points led the Crusaders.

Morgan Powers scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half to pace Little Flower at Hallahan, 59-41.

Central. Down four points with 1:45 left in regulation, Harriton stormed back to top visiting Springfield (Delco), 35-31.

Christina Mullen tied the score with a pair of free throws and was followed shortly after by a go-ahead three from Sabrina Tabasso with 1 minute left.

Jessie Porter knocked down nine of her 10 foul shots as Lower Merion clawed out a 46-37 win at Haverford High. Both teams entered with 4-1 league records and were tied atop the standings with Ridley. Mullen, a freshman, finished with six points, and Katie Melvin dished out eight assists.

Friends Schools. Bianca Adams scored eight points in the fourth as Abington Friends inched out a win at Friends Select, 34-30. Adams finished with a game-high 14.

Caroline Myran scored 10 of her 19 points in the first quarter to help Academy of the New Church topple visiting Germantown Friends, 54-24.

Suburban One. Abington had two chances to sink visiting Council Rock South, but the Ghosts came up short, 36-34. After, Taylor Dillon put South ahead with a pair of free throws with 3.4 seconds left, Abington ran a set play for Aiyannah Peal.

Peal was unable to get off the jumper, as the game clock expired. Referees decided the clock was started too early and gave Abington a second chance. With the same play, Peal jumper from inside the three-point line was just off the mark.

Alex Wheatley had 17 points for the Golden Hawks, who are ranked No. 3 in Southeasten Pa. by The Inquirer. Peal finished with 11.
