Tues. S.J. boys' roundup: Deptford downs Highland

Nick Lawson put in the go-ahead baseline runner with 12 seconds left in double overtime and then added a pair of free throws, allowing host Deptford to outlast Highland, 53-50, on Tuesday in Tri-County Conference boys' basketball.

Lawson's 15 points were second only to teammate Daron Curry, who scored 19 - including the tyiping layup late in regulation.

Tyree Brown, Aaron Canty and Kerron Johnson scored 12 apiece for Highland, which carried a 36-27 lead into the fourth quarter.

In other Tri-County action:

DaQuan Chase (29 points) and Ge-Shawn Davis (23) scored 10 apiece in a 30-13 third-quarter outburst that sent Penns Grove to an 80-63 home win over Kingsway. Garrett Wilson and Davis combined for 31 rebounds for the Red Devils, while Julian Tention went to the boards hard in scoring 22 for the Dragons.

Cedric Elleby had 18 points and Kyle McCulley knocked down five shots from beyond the arc in scoring 17, as Delsea doubled up host Glassboro, 68-34. Bobby Lanzolotti added 15 points for the Crusaders, who put the game away with a 22-5 fourth-quarter run.

Kyle Howell got off to a quick start, dropping in 12 of his 18 points in the opening period, putting Salem on track for a 65-25 rout of visiting Pennsville.

Wes Hills came on to score 18 of his 32 points in the second half of Wildwood's 77-67 win at Clayton.

Brian Lukacsy battled inside for a dozen points as Clearview grounded host GCIT, 50-40.

Olympic. Mike Wilson scored 17, including the tying three-pointer with :15 to go in the first overtime, and Melvin Ford scored half of his 10 points in the second extra period to help Eastern put away Camden Catholic, 64-58. The Irish rode 31 points by Kyle Green.

Eric Church (16 points) and Dajuan Drennon combined to shoot 8 for 10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter of Timber Creek's 52-45 triumph over visiting Washington Township.

Marc Schlessel and Jake Gurkin combined for 38 points and took turns leading host Cherry Hill East to a 65-60 triumph over Triton, in a meeting between division leaders.

Gurkin, who finished with 15 rebounds, picked up 14 of his 16 points in the first half, while Schlessel tossed in 13 of his 22 points over the final two quarters. Donte Vaughan (19 points) and Brian Keller (16) keyed a strong second-half run by the Mustangs.

Burlington County. Shaun Russell (25 points) and Marquel Davis (22) ignited a 41-22 second-half spree, as Westampton Tech wiped out a five-point halftime en route to a 65-51 victory at Moorestown.
