An unhappy 30th for Dwyane Wade

January 16, 2012

Some Miami Heat players hit the practice court on Sunday, but Dwyane Wade - who turns 30 on Tuesday - was not among them.

He was getting treatment on the right ankle he sprained in Friday's loss to Denver.

X-rays were negative, but Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Sunday he wouldn't speculate as to how long Wade, the Heat's second-leading scorer, might be out of action.

The 76ers play the Heat for the first time this season on Saturday in Miami.

"Philly is basically just smacking everybody with a point differential of 15 points per game," Miami's LeBron James pointed out.

Here come the Clippers?

The Clippers beat their Staples Center co-tenant for the second time in four days on Saturday night, a 102-94 victory despite 42 points by the Lakers' Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers were playing their fifth game of the week and 14th of the season, tying Chicago for most games played. The Clippers have played just nine games, fewest in the league.

Blake Griffin, who had 22 points and 14 rebounds, said he wasn't concerned with shedding the Clippers' reputation as perennial losers.

"It's definitely going to take time if we're going to remove that label," he said. "We don't care. We're worried about this year."

Unwanted record

Dallas held Sacramento to 23 points in the first half of a 99-60 win on Saturday.

The 23-point half was the lowest in Kings franchise history. The previous low was 25 points against the Boston Celtics on Feb. 26, 1957, when the Kings were in Rochester, N.Y., and named the Royals.
